MATT ELLIOTT

If anyone would ask me some advice for a free trip to “Melancholia-meets-Ghosts land”, I would definitely recommend Matt Elliott.

The Bristol born singer is a self made musician, playing since he’s 16. “I remember playing violin in high school. Well, I remember pretending I was playing, moving my fingers in the air…”. Because Matt Elliott thinks “music shouldn’t be taught this way” to kids, he simply stopped going to school.

« Anyway I wouldn’t have any other job, this is the only thing I’m good », he reckons. More than 15 years later, he played with Sonic Youth at the Brooklyn Brigde, went on tour with Yann Tiersen, and performed in Brussels with Cocorosie.

His past relationships seem to inspire him, even « being romantic sucks, because you always suffer ». Still, he likes to keep on talking about it, as his new single title is « The pain that is yet to come ».

Matt Elliott biggest dream ? Play with Paco de Lucia, « and that’s maybe gonna happen thanks to a friend ». Influenced by Lucia’s Andalousia, Balkans and arabic cultures, his music is a must-listen. If you ever wanna travel for free.
